Sharks Prove They Can Win Without Celebrini
The San Jose Sharks have won their first game this season without captain Macklin Celebrini in the lineup.
The Sharks beat the St. Louis Blues 3-2 in overtime, with Darnell Nurse scoring his first goal in teal.
After a blowout loss in Dallas, it appeared the Sharks were trending in the wrong direction as Blues forward Connor McMichael scored in the opening frame.
It wasn't until the second period that the momentum from the Cam Fowler penalty worked in San Jose's favor as Sharks veteran forward Tyler Toffoli netted his second of the season.
From that point forward, the Sharks had a little more kick to their game.
Despite allowing the Blues to net another goal, it only took minutes later for Collin Graf to respond with his first of the season, forcing the game into overtime.
Once the horn sounded for the start of overtime it didn't take long for Darnell Nurse to find an opening as Ivar Stenberg rifled a pass perfectly to his blade, which then Nurse tucked away behind the net to secure the win.

Alex Nedeljkovic put up a .923 save percentage in his first start of the season, securing San Jose's third win this season.
The Sharks will head back home to face off against division rivals, the Edmonton Oilers, as they look to shut out Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Puck drop is at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 10, at the SAP Center.
