For the third straight season, the San Jose Sharks will be drafting in the top two selections of the NHL Draft. The Sharks finished with the 2025-26 season with a 39-35-8 record that landed them the 9th overall selection headed into the offseason. On Tuesday, with a 5% chance of winning the lottery (50 combinations out of a total 1,000), San Jose won the second draw of the 2026 NHL Draft Lottery to obtain the 2nd pick in this summer's entry draft.

The Sharks have been rebuilding a young core for the better part of this decade, having selected Macklin Celebrini 1st overall in 2024 and Michael Misa 2nd overall in 2025. William Eklund, Will Smith, Sam Dickinson and Quentin Musty are other notable 1st round selections that the Sharks have acquired over the past few seasons. With the pick now secured, Sharks fans can only wait to see who General Manager Mike Grier will add to this young core of future NHL superstars.
