PWHL San Jose Signs Corinne Schroeder
PWHL San Jose announced today that goaltender Corinne Schroeder has become the first-ever player in franchise history, signing a two-year Professional Women's Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.
Schroeder signs with San Jose during Phase 2 of the Expansion Player Distribution Process, which allows each expansion team to build the foundation of its roster by acquiring five players through signings and, if necessary, a player selection process. Phase 2 began Friday at 12 p.m. ET and continues until Monday, June 8 at 1 p.m. ET.

Schroeder's Collegiate Career
Schroeder played at Boston University between 2017 and 2021. She set program records for both career goals-against average (1.98 GAA) and save percentage (.929 SV%) across 91 games. She won the 2019 Beanpot Tournament with the Terriers and earned multiple Hockey East All-Star honors.
She transferred as a graduate student to Quinnipiac University for the 2021–2022 season and posted a 15-8-2 record with six shutouts. On September 25, 2021, she became the first female goaltender in NCAA history to be credited with scoring a goal during a 5-1 win over Maine.

Professional Career
Schroeder's professional playing career began in 2022 when she signed with the Premier Hockey Federation's Boston Pride. Her rookie season was historic. She set a PHF record for three consecutive shutouts in her first three games, stopping a total of 112 shots faced. She set three single-season records for wins (19), shutouts (7), and total saves (761) en route to being named the PHF Rookie of the Year and PHF Goaltender of the Year.

Schroeder has played 52 PWHL games between New York and Seattle. Schroeder played with New York from 2023-25 in the PWHL. She recorded the league's first ever shutout with 29 saves against Toronto on January 1, 2024. Her consistency in net was recognized by being voted as one of three finalists for the 2024 PWHL Goaltender of the Year Award.
Schroeder set a league record for the longest shutout streak with 178 minutes and 15 seconds between December 29, 2024, and January 15, 2025. She was left unprotected by the New York Sirens during last season's 8-team expansion and signed with the Seattle Torrent for their inaugural season in 2025-26. Schroeder played 17 games with the Torrent and was under contract prior to being signed through 2027-28 with San Jose.
The PWHL Expansion Phase
Per the PWHL: Phase 2 of the Expansion Player Distribution Process allows each expansion team to build the foundation of its roster by acquiring five players through signings and, if necessary, a player selection process. Only players identified on an expansion team’s initial 20-player Exclusive Negotiation Target List are eligible to be signed during Phase 2. Existing teams can lose a maximum of three players who are under contract for the 2026-27 season during this phase.
