Sharks ink goaltender Ilya Samsonov to one-year deal
General Manager Mike Grier announced that the San Jose Sharks have signed veteran goaltender Ilya Samsonov to a one-year, two-way contract.
The 29-year-old netminder has played in 200 career NHL games throughout six seasons with the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs and Vegas Golden Knights. Samsonov has an 118-48-25 record with a .902 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average in the NHL.
Samsonov spent last season playing with HK Sochi in the KHL, where he posted a 3-8-0 record with a .903 save percentage, 3.27 goals against average and one shutout in 14 appearances.
Per PuckPedia, Samsonov brings an $850k cap hit with his one-year, two-way contract.

Sharks fans can expect to see Samsonov in the mix for a depth role during training camp before joining the San Jose Barracuda at the start of the season.
