SHARKS SEND QUALIFYING OFFERS TO NINE PLAYERS, RELEASE EIGHT

The San Jose Sharks released a list of players they sent qualifying offers to and a list of players they were releasing.

The following players have been released by the San Jose Sharks:

Joachim Blichfeld

Jonathan Dahlen

Zach Gallant

Jame McGrew

Nicolas Meloche

Antoine Morand

Brinson Pasichnuk

Zach Sawchenko

The following players have received a qualifying offer and now their signing rights belong to the San Jose Sharks:

Sasha Chmelevski

Mario Ferraro

Jonah Gadjovich

Noah Gregor

Kaapo Kahkonen

Luke Kunin

Of the players on the Sharks' UFA list, Jonathan Dahlen and Zach Sawchenko are the most notable amongst Sharks fans.

Zach Sawchenko was a promising prospect in the net for the Sharks, who fans felt never got a chance to thrive last season in the NHL. Sawchenko's release is not a shocker, considering that the Sharks have more than enough goalies in their prospect pool, including the 2022 4th Round selection Mason Beaupit.

Dahlen, son of former Shark Ulf Dahlen, scored 22 points in 61 games for in his rookie season.

When asked about Dahlen's release, new Sharks General Manager Mike Grier had this to say:

There’s a certain type of profile of player and things that we’re looking for to kind of make this team the type of team that I would like it to be. (Dahlen) doesn’t fit the profile right now. I wish him the best.
