The San Jose Sharks hosted the Joe Pavelski and the Dallas Stars Saturday night at the Tank and to Sharks fans delights, San Jose handed the 'Big D' a "Big L'.

Tomas Hertl and Erik Karlsson lit the lamp against Dallas goaltender Braden Holtby and the return of Sharks goaltender James Reimer featured 34 saves in the Sharks 2-1 victory.

Hertl was credited with his 14th goal of the season with a shot from Timo Meier that deflected off his thigh and into the net in the first period. The Sharks controlled the game throughout the first two periods, although former team captain Joe Pavelski almost scored with a shot that went off the post. Erik Karlsson scored his 8th of the season with a blast from the blue line that cleanly went through traffic, over the shoulder of Holtby, and into the net. The Stars ruined the shutout for Reimer with a third-period goal by Michael Raffl, but "Optimus Reim's solid performance secured the Sharks win in his 400th career NHL game. The Sharks will continue the homestand on Tuesday when they take the ice in the first-ever game against the NHL's newest club, the Seattle Kraken. Opening faceoff is scheduled at 7:30 PM PST.
