SHARKS ANNOUNCE PRESS CONFERENCE FOR MARLEAU

The San Jose Sharks Public Relations informed Sharks Territory today that a press conference will be held on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 for Patrick Marleau to make an announcement about the "future of his hockey career".

The expectation is that Patrick Marleau will officially retire from the National Hockey League as a player. Even though some fans, jokingly, suspect a multimillion-dollar contract signing.

With the Sharks' search for a new General Manager beginning next week, other fans in Sharks Territory have already begun speculating that the announcement could be related to Patty joining the front office or coaching staff. It would be more likely for a one-day contract signing or the date of his jersey retirement ceremony to be released, rather than Marleau becoming Doug Wilson's successor, but it wouldn't be such a far-fetched idea either.

Marleau, like Wilson, was Captain of the San Jose Sharks and played his final season in San Jose. If the Sharks were looking to hire a former player to be the GM, such as rumored potential candidate Kevin Weekes, perhaps it makes more sense for Patty to follow Dougie in the ranks of Sharks Territory.

Either way, if Marleau is set to become a part of the organization again through coaching or the front office, he will first have to retire as a player in the NHL.
