SHARKS FALL TO THE DUCKS
The San Jose Sharks began the 2021-22 season with a 6-3 loss in Anaheim and a 4-2 victory in Las Vegas. In Anaheim, Nick Bonino, Tristen Robins, and Rudolf Balcers scored a goal for the Sharks - in that order, one for each period. The Anaheim Ducks rallied in the 3rd period with 3 straight goals to take their home opening preseason game at Honda Center. Sharks goaltenders Alexei Melnichuk and Zach Sawchenko split the duties in the crease. Melnichuk made 8 saves on 10 shots, while Sawchenko made 14 stops on 17 attempts.
SHARKS DEFEAT GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The San Jose Sharks showcased their newly acquired talent in a 4-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena Sunday night. The Sharks started Adin Hill, the newly acquired goaltender from Arizona, against the divisional rivals. Adin made it an 'upHill' battle for the Knights with spectacular saves to earn his first victory in a Sharks sweater. Hill posted a .913 save percentage with 21saves on 23 shots.
Sharks fans also had the opportunity to see the 2021 First Round, 7th Overall Draft pick play in his first NHL preseason game.
The Sharks scored on 2 of 3 powerplay opportunities, including a goal by Captain Logan Couture just 8 seconds into the man advantage. The San Jose Sharks will play in their home opener against the Los Angeles Kings on September 28th, marking their first game since March of 2020 that will not have a restricted capacity on the number of fans allowed in the building, however, fans who wish to attend must show proof of full vaccination.
