MEIER MAKES HISTORY, SHARKS BEAT LA

Timo Meier made San Jose Sharks history by scoring 5 goals in a single game. Meier also joins Evander Kane as the only players in franchise history to record a hat-trick in the first period. Meier joins the likes of Owen Nolan, Tomas Hertl, and Patrick Marleau in recording 4 goals in a game. The Sharks beat the Los Angeles Kings 6-2 in San Jose during a Monday afternoon game. The Sharks had a solid performance on the powerplay, scoring on 2 out of 3 chances and James Reimer made 39 saves on 41 shots to keep the Sharks in contention for a Wild Card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Erik Karlsson also recorded his 500th career NHL point with an assist. Meier scored goals 16 through 20 on the season in a single game, just days after being selected to the NHL All-Star Game.
