For those of you who are new to Sharks hockey, the San Jose Sharks started their story in Daly City, California at the Cow Palace, a legendary venue in the Bay Area that opened in 1941.

The Cow Palace hosted the Sharks for their first two years of existence in the National Hockey League (1991-1993) and has since served as a staple of Bay Area hockey events, being the home of the San Francisco Spiders (IHL) in 1995 and the San Francisco Bulls (ECHL) from 2012 to 2014.

The Cow Palace produced one of the best opening night ceremonies to celebrate a new NHL team in that era with a state-of-the-art laser show to commemorate the Sharks' opening night in 1991:

Even though the Sharks are 29 years removed from the Cow Palace, the event venue in Daly City has its share of moments in Sharks history, including the birth of S.J. Sharkie:

Here at Shark City, we are stoked to see that the Cow Palace and neighboring Daly City are being honored with this throwback to the 1991 season. Both the Team Classics Jersey and Jacket for the San Jose Sharks are available online and at select sporting goods retailers in the Bay Area.
