SHARKS ARE 0-4

The Sharks fell to the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night at the Tank 5-2. Entering the game, both clubs were winless at 0-3. The Sharks began the game hot, ending the first period up 2-0.

Erik Karlsson led the Shark Attack, with a beautiful fake shot-pass for an assist on Nico Sturm's first goal of the season.

Erik Karlsson also scored his first goal of the season a little over 5 minutes after setting up the first goal of the game.

As the trend has been very early this season, the Sharks won the first period and went into stealth mode for the following 40 minutes. The Sharks allowed 3 goals in the 2nd period, 2 goals allowed while on the power play, and less than 2 minutes apart.

The Sharks' 0-4 start is the club's worst start to a season since 2019 when Peter DeBoer was exiting as the head coach. For comparison's sake and nothing more, Bob Boughner began his last season as the head coach in 2021 with a perfect 4-0 record and last season with the New York Rangers, David Quinn was 1-2-1 in his first 4 games.

Against the Blackhawks, Quinn's Sharks struggled to get a shot on net until nearly 9 minutes into the first period, the power play failed to score on 3 opportunities, and the team was deflated once giving up back-to-back shorthanded goals.

Sharks fans will have to wait just a bit longer to celebrate the first win for new General Manager Mike Grier and new Head Coach David Quinn.
